Policy Coordinator (m/f/d)

Your contribution will be

  • Being responsible for strategy development and planning on key policy and legislative files
  • Leading strategic implementation on key policy and legislative files, as needed
  • Managing stakeholder relationships with key institutional stakeholders, including deepening FOUR PAWS’ reach into key Directorates-General of the Commission, cabinets, Council working parties and EP committees, as needed
  • Being responsible for proactively exploiting opportunities and generating momentum on key policy objectives for FOUR PAWS, including through harnessing the full potential of our relations with the European Parliament, Council and Commission
  • Providing advice and direction to junior members of the team, as and when requested
  • Representing FOUR PAWS in high-level political fora, when needed in place of the Director, including by giving speeches and presentations
  • Serving as a legal and legislative affairs expert within the organisation, providing guidance and education on this topic to FOUR PAWS’ team members, both within FOUR PAWS Belgium and to colleagues in EU country offices

 

Your profile ideally illustrates

  • Educational background in political science, law, European affairs or other relevant field of studies
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in the field of EU policies, ideally lobbying or advocacy work on animals related issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language including presentation skills (other languages are an advantage)
  • Strong analytical, research, organisational and project skills
  • Strong understanding of EU institutions and EU animal welfare policy
  • Proven skills and experience of advocacy in EU legislative and political processes
  • Ability to work with an international team and external partners to achieve strategic advocacy objectives
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with decision makers at the highest level
  • Ability to represent FOUR PAWS on key institutional fora, including the Animal Welfare Platform and Civil Dialogue Group
  • Great affinity to animal welfare and FOUR PAWS vision and mission
