AL MA'WA FOR NATURE & WILDLIFE
A cooperation project between the Princess Alia Foundation and FOUR PAWS in Jordan since 2011
The Al Ma’wa for Nature and Wildlife project provides a regional solution for rescued wild animals and offers emergency relief to animals from crisis areas in the Middle East. Most of the animals come from irresponsible private owners and zoos that could or would not look after them properly.
Animals that cannot be sent to their country of origin or released into the wild find a permanent home in Al Ma'wa for Nature and Wildlife, which covers 140 hectares. Species-specific enclosures ensure the animals have enough space and appropriate conditions that best suit their natural needs.
Jordan is a hot transit area for transporting wildlife both legally and illegally between sources and markets. This is why another main task of the project is education on the issue of the wildlife trade in Jordan.
