Thanks to the work of FOUR PAWS in Ukraine since 2012, a lot has been achieved for captive brown bears. Nevertheless, many bears in Ukraine are still abused. They are kept, sometimes bred and traded, in poor and inappropriate conditions, without proper food and veterinary care. In addition, several bears are still being kept on hunting stations, by private persons as pets, or as attractions near restaurants or hotels.
