Cattle are domesticated bovine farm animals raised for various purposes, including beef, leather, veal, and dairy production. They are known for having very distinct personalities and highly developed emotions, meaning they form strong bonds with other animals in their herd. In their natural habitat, cattle spend most of their time grazing, covering several kilometeres per day. They are naturally social animals, needing freedom of movement and comfortable resting spaces. Their social nature and need for freedom are essential considerations in their care and management. Cattle can live for up to 20 years when well-kept and cared for. In contrast, in commercial beef farming the animals sadly live for an average of 18 months before they are slaughtered.
